Founded in 1991 in Belgrade, the Foundation for the Promotion of Democracy “Ljuba Davidović” has the mission to promote democratic values, political education and social justice in Serbia. It is the only foundation founded by the Democratic Party in Serbia — an organisation with a long tradition of promoting social democracy, European integration and regional cooperation. 

The mission of the Ljuba Davidović Foundation is to advance democracy in Serbia through education, public dialogue and the development of progressive public policies that affirm human rights, social justice and equality. The Foundation acts as a centre for democratic education and policy development, encouraging the cooperation of political actors, the academic community and civil society. Current initiatives are aimed at strengthening democratic culture, improving citizens’ understanding of democratic institutions, and raising awareness of the consequences of institutional capture and the erosion of the rule of law. Through public forums, research, analysis, policy and partnerships with academic institutions and civil society organisations, the Foundation contributes to building a society based on the rule of law, media freedom and basic human rights.
