Following up on the ‘Progressives for Climate’ initiative, the Foundation for European Progressive Studies and the Transnational Law Institute of the Dickson Poon School of Law, at King’s College London, are jointly organising a workshop on June 1st 2016 in Brussels in order to identify opportunities and practices to strengthen the EU’s climate and sustainable energy diplomacy. The workshop will feature experienced climate and energy policymakers and diplomats, including from international institutions, and experts in climate technology and energy.

This workshop forms part of a wider project that will evaluate the changed diplomatic landscape, characterised by the above developments, in which EU climate technology and energy diplomacy must operate. This evaluation will be presented to EU policy-makers and other stakeholders together with options for actions to take to strengthen climate technology and energy diplomacy.

Following this workshop, the project will result in the publication of a report, which will comprehensively treat the subject matter referred to above, and which is expected to be presented in London in the Fall/Winter of 2016. The report will be written by Stephen Minas, Research Fellow, Visiting Lecturer and doctoral candidate at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London.
