Progressive Economic Policy Online Conference

Wednesday 27 May from 17.00 to 18.30 with:

Elisa Ferreira, European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reform
Jakob von Weizsāker, Chief Economist German Finance Ministry
Aleš Chmelař, Czech Deputy Minister for Europe
Moderation: László Andor, FEPS Secretary General

Looking ahead to the German Presidency of the EU, this conversation between national and EU policymakers will be the occasion to discuss the agenda for the incoming Presidency and the adaptation of the EU financial and investment strategy in the aftermath of the pandemic.


The session, moderated by FEPS Secretary General Laszlo Andor will provide insights on the EU recovery plan and will discuss the overall investment strategy for Europe as well as the way forward on the EU budget negotiations.

This online conference will take place on Wednesday 27 May starting at 5 PM and it will be hosted by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), in collaboration with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), the Pablo Iglesias Foundation and the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK).

This online conference is part of the Progressive Economic Policy Initiative:

The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK) of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung yearly organise the “Day of Progressive Economic Policy” in Berlin.

The physical event will not take place this year rather a series of webinar will be organised, this one also with the collaboration of the Pablo Iglesias Foundation.

During the time of the German Presidency, from the end of June 2020 till the end of the year, the FES in partnership with FEPS, DGB and IMK will run a blog-project to discuss the different aspects of the European economic policy.
