Gesine WEBER is a senior researcher in the Global Security team at the Center for Security Studies (CSS). Her research focuses on European security and defence in the context of global power shifts, grand strategy and Europe-China relations. Before joining CSS, she worked with the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Paris, at the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of Columbia University, the European Council on Foreign Relations, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Shanghai and as a defence policy advisor in the German Bundestag. Her work is regularly published in media like Le Monde, War on the Rocks, the BBC or NZZ, as well as on her own Substack Geopolitical Europe.
