More than 50 progressive organizations (parties, think tanks, civil society, trade unions) joined their forced together to hold the very first Congress of the Polish Left (Kongres Polskiej Lewicy) in Warsaw on 16th June 2013.

The event will be opened with the addresses of the Chair of SLD, Leszek Miller and this round is expected to feature the interventions of three former Presidents: Aleksander Kwasniewski, Lech Walesa and Wojciech Jaruzelski. Afterwards, 1000 participants will divide into 7 parallel workshops – each of which will gather a selected number of high level politicians, intellectuals and journalists.

Dr. Ania Skrzypek, FEPS Senior Research Fellow is invited as a guest speaker to the debate “Left of the 21st century”, during which she will present the recent reflections coming from the FEPS Next Left Research Programme. Among the co-panelists are: professor Kazimierz Kik, professor Janusz Reykowski, professor Jacek Raciborski, dr Przemyslaw Sadura, ed. Robert Walenciak and Tomasz Kalita. At this event also the FEPS pamphlet “Next Left. Winning for Real: the Next Left taking the Chance to Shape Europe for the 21st century. 10 Fundamental Challenges” will be launched in polish language version.
