“In its external relations the EU has never assigned to democratic developing countries like India the priority and [engaged with] …non-democratic developing countries like China”, points out former Union Cabinet Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar in an interview. Yet democracy in India is facing a number of crises of corruption and collapse (as witnessed in Maoist affected districts). The need for the EU to foster closer relations with democratic countries and the Indian government to pursue social-democratic measures in India is his wise counsel in the interview for FEPS on India Against Corruption’s new political turn, economic reforms in India and the future of the India-EU partnership
