The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) together with its UK partner foundation Policy Network launched a publication entitled “The Social State of Europe After the Crisis” at the FEPS offices in Brussels on the 16 June 2015

The report is the result of joint-research on the question of the social reality of Europe in the aftermath of Europe’s serious economic and financial crisis of 2008. The report paves way for further discussions on Europe’s recent austerity drive and especially for credibility of social democratic governments accepting light austerity measures.

The report also brings clear proof of an acute division in Europe (North vs. South) and that a deeper analysis of the so called Troika austerity programs is called for at the risk of rising populist parties and an increasing gap between the EU and its citizens (democratic deficit).
