Antoni VERGER
Antoni Verger is Ramón y Cajal and Marie Curie researcher at the Department of Sociology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona which helps fund the Globalisation, Education and Social Policies (GEPS) research center, and deputy director of the Erasmus+ master Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED). A former post-doctoral fellow at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (University of Amsterdam), Dr. Verger’s research has specialised in the study of the relationship between global governance institutions and education policy, with a focus on the dissemination, enactment and effects of public-private partnerships and quasi-market policies in education. He has coordinated several competitive projects and published extensively on these themes in academic books and journals including the Comparative Education Review, the Journal of Education Policy, Current Sociology, the Review of International Political Economy, Globalisation, Societies and Education, and Comparative Education. Dr. Verger has conducted research for UNESCO, the Global Campaign for Education, Education International and several international aid agencies. In addition, he is a member of the EU Network of Experts on the Social Dimension of Education and Training (NESET II), and of the international advisory board of the Right to Education Project, the Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change, the Observatorio de la Educación en Chile and the Catalan Aid Agency
