
Maya Fernandez
Maya Fernández holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with specialization in Biology and Veterinary Medicine from the University of Chile. She is a member of the Socialist Party of Chile. She was local councillor in the municipality of Ñuñoa between 2008 and 2012. In 2013, she was elected Member of Parliament for District 21 for the period 2014 – 2018. In 2017, she was reelected for District 10
for the period 2018 -2022. Since last 11th March she is the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile. Regarding her professional career, it should be stressed that, between 2006 and 2012, she was part of the General Directorate of International Economic Relations (DIRECON) of Chile’s Foreign Ministry, where she was responsible for the health and phytosanitary aspects of the trade treaties and agreements signed by Chile.
