
Pedro SILVA PEREIRA
Pedro Silva Pereira was Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2019 to 2024 and Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2024. He was standing-rapporteur on the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, and shadow-rapporteur on the EU-Australia and the EU-New Zealand Free Trade Agreements. He was also rapporteur on the recomposition of the European Parliament after Brexit, on the Implementation of the UK Withdrawal Agreement and on the Recommendations on the Negotiations for a New Partnership with the UK. He was S&D representative in the Brexit Steering Group, the UK Coordination Group, the UK Contact Group and the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly. He was also co-rapporteur on “Deepening EU Integration in view of Future Enlargement”, and took part in the Conference for the Future of Europe.
In Portugal, Pedro Silva Pereira was Minister of the Presidency, Secretary of State for Land Use Planning and Nature Conservation, and Member of the Parliament.
He holds a Master of Laws from the Lisbon University School of Law, where he is Assistant-Teacher. He was also Assistant-Professor at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, Department of Law; Lecturer at Lusíada University, Lisbon; and Invited Lecturer at Sciences Po, Paris. In 2025, he will also be a Lecturer at Stockholm University Department of Law, and at Universidad de Los Andes, Facultad de Derecho, Bogotá.
He is the Chairman of the Res Publica Foundation since 2016.
