Tomás GONÇALVES

Trainee

Tomás Gonçalves joined FEPS as a Climate Research Trainee from September to December 2025. His work focused on analysing EU climate and energy policies, with a particular emphasis on the European Green Deal and Just Transition.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Lisbon and is completing a Master’s in International Relations: EU Studies at Aalborg University. His academic work explores sustainable development, EU policymaking, and questions of territorial and social justice.

Before joining FEPS, Tomás worked as a Policy & Advocacy Officer at Último Recurso, where he contributed to EU advocacy campaigns, authored policy-focused opinion articles, and supported international advocacy initiatives. He also served as a Democracy Rapporteur at the Our Rule of Law Foundation, focusing on judicial independence, democratic governance and the rule of law in the EU.
