Banking Union seems to be the best solution to secure European financial stability and, at the same time, to have a possible governance regime given divergent national interests, affirm Daniela Gabor (UWE Bristol) in this policy brief.

Satisfactory compromises appear to have been reached regarding this issue, however, banking union proposals have not tackled the fundamental challenges posed by the architecture of European finance, shaped by large, complex and systematically interconnected banks.
