The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity (EFDS) and the Karl-Renner-Institut are delighted to present the outcomes of the two years research project ‘Enhancing Democracy pre and post EU enlargement’ in the form of a book launch taking place on November 21st in Vienna, Austria. The publication “Problems for Representative Democracy in Europe” focuses on problems such as the return of authoritarianism, the role of selfish elites, weak institutions and extremist populism.

In conjunction to the book launch, the PES Democracy and Society Network is organising a two-day conference “Enhancing Democracy: Our Main Priority”, a high-level conference in Vienna, from 21 to 22 November 2014 to discuss the current situation, challenges and advancements relating to democracy and fundamental rights.
