Violence against women in politics is not only an intolerable violation of women’s human rights and civil rights but a fundamental challenge to democracy.

The UN 65th Commission on the Status of Women with its priority theme “Women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls” is a moment to raise awareness of the threat of gender-based violence affecting women engaged in public life and specify policy solutions or remedies.

The Foundation for European Progressive Studies and the National Democratic Institute organised a solutions-oriented discussion to evaluate successful policy responses and promote their urgent adoption.
