FEPS and KarlRenner-Institut are organising the sixth iteration of the Next Left Lectures series. Hosted by Andreas SCHIEDER MEP, the lecture ‘How Progressives Should Think About Migration‘ will be presented by Prof. Alan Manning, Professor of Economics and Director of the Labour Markets Programme at the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Progressives in many countries have struggled to address voters who are anxious about migration. Based on his recent book ‘Why immigration policy is hard and how to make it better’, Prof. Alan Manning, ex-chair of the UK Migration Advisory Committee, will outline the impacts of migration and what this means for policy and politics.

The Lectures form an integral part of the Next Left Research Programme (est. 2009) and ever since they were introduced as an innovation in 2022, they are considered to be the significant moment during which the newest findings deriving from the research of the top European academics are presented in exclusive closed-door sessions to leading European policymakers. Notable lecturers in this series include Professor Tarik Abou-Chadi, Lord (Roger) Liddle, Professor Daphne Halikopoulou, Professor Simon Hix, and Professor Jenny Andersson.
