Vice President of the PES Group in the European Committee of the Regions and City Councillor of Budapest
Kata Tüttő is a Hungarian politician, economist, and dedicated public servant with over two decades of experience in governance, European policymaking, and urban sustainability. Since February 2025, she is PES candidate for the presidency of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) for the first half of the mandate, representing local and regional governments across Europe. Her leadership will focus on strengthening local democracy, advancing climate policies, and ensuring that regions play a key role in shaping the EU’s future.
Previously, she served as Deputy Mayor of Budapest (2019–2024), overseeing climate adaptation, waste and water management, public transport, and utility services. She played a crucial role in making Budapest more sustainable and resilient, advocating for green investments and inclusive urban development. Currently, she is the Chair of the Budapest Waterworks Company and Budapest Sewage Works Company, focusing on the city’s water infrastructure.
A long-time advocate for climate action, she has been a Vice-Chair of the CoR Commission for Environment, Climate Change, and Energy (ENVE) and a rapporteur on key reports related to the Covenant of Mayors, circular economy, and gender equality in the Green Deal. She has represented European cities at global climate summits, including COP27 and COP28. Since 2022, she has also represented the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) at the PES Presidency and serves as a board member of the Progressive Alliance.
Kata Tüttő holds degrees in Economics, International Relations, and Finance from top Hungarian universities and speaks fluent English and Hungarian.
