Thijs VAN DE GRAAF
Thijs Van de Graaf is an associate professor of international politics at Ghent University, where he is the co-coordinator of the Ghent Institute for International and European Studies. He is also a nonresident fellow with Johns Hopkins University, the Colorado School of Mines and the United Nations University. In 2011 he was a visiting researcher at Princeton University. Thijs specializes in global energy politics, particularly in the oil and gas markets, climate policy, hydrogen, critical materials, and the geopolitical effects of the energy transition. His latest book, Global Energy Politics, was published in 2020 with Polity Press. He was also the lead author of three reports on the geopolitics of the energy transition for the International Renewable Energy Agency. His research has been cited in media such as The Guardian, The Independent and the Washington Post.
