The idea of a clash between Islam and “the West” – a word in which everything is put together and confused – has misled our policies and our narratives. Islam holds a place in our Western societies. Islam belongs in Europe. It holds a place in Europe’s history, in our culture, in our food and – what matters most – in Europe’s present and future.” said Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, at the last edition of Call to Europe (24-25 June 2015).

FEPS’ signature event, Call to Europe, was a “starting point of a dialogue with our European Muslim fellow-citizens“, as Massimo D’Alema, President of FEPS, said in his opening speech. Our aim is “to better understand how these European citizens and inhabitants live together with the other Europeans, how their principles and values coexist with the principles and values on which the European Union has been built and which underpin our own cohabitation“.

The future of the European Union is today more than ever to become a mutiethnic, multi religious and multilingual society. The goal of this dialogue is to promote a better quality of our living together on the base of a better mutual knowledge. In this context, FEPS is proposing 8 concrete proposals.
