The social reality of Europe after the crisis. Presentation at ETUI Forum

Ernst Stetter, Secretary General of FEPS, and  Roger Liddle, member of FEPS Scientific Council, are invited to the ETUI Monthly Forum (Thursday 17th March, 12:30-14:00) to present the report ‘The Social State of Europe After the Crisis’, a joint publication of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) and its UK partner foundation Policy Network.

The report is the result of research on the question of the social reality of Europe in the aftermath of Europe’s serious economic and financial crisis of 2008.

It paves way for further discussions on Europe’s recent austerity drive and especially for credibility of social democratic governments accepting light austerity measures. It also brings clear proof of an acute division in Europe (North vs. South) and that a deeper analysis of the so called Troika austerity programs is called for at the risk of rising populist parties and an increasing gap between the EU and its citizens.
