With the stunning result of the 2016 U.S. election behind us, policymakers and government officials across Europe are left to wonder what to expect from the administration headed by a man characterized by his lack of predictability. Both parties are due for some soul-searching as we digest the results of one of the most historical elections in U.S. history. As Trump assembles his new cabinet and outlines his policy goals, we must look at both sides of the Atlantic to see what the future holds for the U.S.-EU relationship, U.S. domestic politics, the legacy of President Obama, and the progressive movement.

The Foundation for European Progressive Studies in cooperation with the German Marshall Fund of the United States are jointly organising a discussion not only on what Europe can expect from the new Trump administration, but what may be in store for the future of U.S. politics in general. The event, which will take place on Monday November 28th, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Polak room of the Residence Palace, will bring together American and European voices in order to analyse what comes next for the U.S., Europe and the world.
