This event, organised in cooperation with the PES Group in the Committee of the Regions, will debate about what a just transition and the European Union’s Green New Deal mean from the workers’ point of view. It will also address the ways in which they can be supported and empowered through training, sustainable wages and safe working conditions.

Among those participating, the PES Group is delighted to have on board young progressive local and regional politicians.

Going from disruptive technologies to digitalisation, from the climate emergency to a new sustainable investment, from growing inequalities to new economic policies: all these transformations can represent both an opportunity and a threat, as they will have a huge impact on workers, especially on their needed knowledge and skills, on their rights and on their social conditions.

A just transition towards a sustainable economy and society in Europe can only succeed if the entire society participates, (including its workers, in the design and implementation of the transformation to ensure that every one can benefit from it and that no one is left behind.

How can we create new green jobs while ensuring that inequalities are tackled? How can we make sure workers are properly protected, benefit from this transition and take an active part in it?

Let’s make sure that no worker is left behind in this transition!
