Spanish Minister Teresa Ribera awarded FEPS ‘Progressive Person of the Year’

Teresa Ribera, Third Vice-President of the Spanish Government and Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, is FEPS Progressive Person of the Year!

Ribera is an outstanding leader and international policymaker in the fight against climate change who has helped European socialists develop a robust climate agenda over the past decade.

FEPS awards the title of Progressive Person of the Year to social democratic leaders who contributed to the most important progressive policy initiatives of the past year. Previous recipients include Frans Timmermans, Sanna Marin, and Roberto Gualtieri.

The award ceremony occurred during the launch of the fifth edition of the Progressive Yearbook.

The Progressive Yearbook is now available!
In its fifth edition, FEPS invites you to explore and reflect on the most significant developments of the previous year and imagines what the future has in store for 2024.

Within this latest volume, we prepare ourselves for a transformative year marked by pivotal elections. While casting a spotlight on the European Parliament elections, our attention extends to the broader political landscape within the EU, which is on the verge of transformation, shaping the Europe ahead.

This yearly edition counts on renowned authors’ contributions, including academics, politicians, and civil society representatives.

The Progressive Yearbook launch took place on January 24 at FEPS headquarters. Besides the award ceremony for Spanish VP Teresa Ribera, the event also included a panel with some of the authors of the Yearbook’s chapters.

OBITUARY

On 28 January 2024, the world will bid the final farewell to Ed (John Edward) Broadbent, former leader of the Canadian New Democratic Party and Chair of Broadbent Institute, who passed away at the age of 87 on the 11th of this month.

This new Progressive Post dossier aims to highlight the importance of the EU’s social rights, for every European citizen, and especially as the centre-piece of the upcoming electoral campaign, as, ultimately, these European elections will be about the European society we want for the future.
