Thomas FRÖHLICH


Thomas was policy analyst on climate and environment at FEPS. This portfolio covers progressive climate and environmental policy, questions of sustainable energy, and the Just Transition.

Prior to joining FEPS, Thomas was a research fellow at the War Studies Department at King’s College London, where he researched energy security and the geopolitical impacts of the global energy transition. His most recent project analysed resource governance and extractivist practices in South America.

Thomas holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Munich and a PhD in International Relations from King’s College London. The book titled “Brazil’s International Ethanol Strategy – Lula’s quest for a global biofuels market”, based on his doctoral research, was published in 2022.

Prior to his academic journey, Thomas worked as a political consultant in Berlin and kept doing so to support political campaigns and to bring academic evidence into the political discussion.
