In the European debate on economic migration (from Africa), the perspectives of Africans are not sufficiently taken into account. In order to add these perspectives to this debate, FEPS (Foundation for European Progressive Studies) with the support of FMS (Foundation Max van der Stoel) have initiated the research project Migration: African perspectives.

What are the main incentives for migration? What is the importance of migration for African countries? And how can European countries implement effective policies in order to reduce irregular migration? This research will result in a set of policy recommendations for better European and national policies regarding migration, taking into account the perspectives of Africans.

In the framework of this research FEPS and FMS are organising a second expert meeting, after a first one that was held in Amsterdam last December, that will address in particular the question of circular migration and will try to devise innovative ideas for policies on migration.

The trainings are closed-door.
