EU must support regional efforts to preserve Senegalese democracy

The EU must put diplomatic pressure on incumbent President Abdoulaye Wade to listen to his people. This can be best done by regional means considered the EU delegation lead by FEPS with GPF One week before the 1st round of the presidential elections.

The situation is becoming increasingly volatile as violent repression breeds an angry reaction. The future of Senegalese democracy must be based on clear, open and inclusive procedures. If it is not, the first people to lose will be Senegalese citizens.
