The EU Commission, in its Green Paper for Capital Markets Union proposes simple, transparent and standardised/comparable securitization as a means to revive the link between banks and capital markets in the EU, especially to facilitate further provision of lending to SMEs. This brief identifies three main challenges of the Commission’s plans.
