The 8th Oxford symposium, organised by FEPS with the support of Progressive Britain and the Renner Institut, took place between July 3rd and 5th at St. Catherine’s College premises.

This two-day closed seminar gathered 50 outstanding academics, front bench politicians, and stakeholders from the UK and all over the EU, who jointly explored five key challenges identified as critical for social democrats to answer in a short, medium, and long-term perspective.

The intense debates, inspired by the FEPS Next Left Research Programme, kicked off with a keynote lecture by Ian Goldin, Professor of Globalisation and Development at the University of Oxford and Director of the Oxford Martin Research Programmes on Technological and Economic Change, Future of Work and Future of Development.

Debates were structured in lively panels – presential to ensure that the process of reflection benefits fully from focus, attendance, and direct engagement of all involved. In a grand finale, innovative approaches and inspiring conclusions were exchanged.
