Alongside German conservative MEP Lars Patrick Berg and Fabian Zuleeg, Chief economist and director of the European Policy Centre, FEPS President Maria João Rodrigues debated on the panel Brussels, My Love on Euronews the root causes of farmers’ fury in Germany. They also broke down the recently agreed EU fiscal rules reform, and addressed Charles Michel’s decision to quit his job early to run for MEP.

On the fiscal rules reform that the EU Finance Minister agreed on before Christmas, Maria João Rodrigues recognised some positive aspects, but highlighted how the most important thing needed was a long-term European investment capacity for the green transition. She stated: “We managed to create (an investment capacity) during the pandemic; we should extend this instrument in the future for the green transition”.
