Policy Brief

26/07/2016

This policy brief is based on remarks delivered during an event, co-organised by FEPS and Das Progressive Zentrum, on 1 July  in Berlin, focusing on the 2016 US Presidential Election. It makes an attempt at grasping the transatlantic phenomenon of “Populism”, in light of the November 8th election in the US, and especially the “strange career of Donald Trump”, but also with an eye to the recent rise of populism in Germany, with the stunning election results for the AfD in three state elections earlier this year – and, not least, under the impression of last week’s “Brexit” vote in favor of leaving the European Union in the UK.
