FEPS Next Left Focus Group and FEPS Next Left National Round Table

The FEPS Next Left Research Programme will feature the third of its two-days activities combining the National Round Table and the Focus Group Meeting, which practice follows the inspiring meetings in Barcelona and in Ljubljana (respectively in March and April earlier this year). What links the debates is the commitment of all actors involved – FG members, speakers, participants to jointly explore potential avenues alongside which a new progressive European agenda for the future of welfare societies could be constructed.

Thanks to the kind invitation of DEMOS Lithuania and with the support of Renner Institute, the event will be held in a beautiful city of Vilnius – where gathered honorable speakers, host organisation’s representatives and  last but not least the FG members, will jointly deliberate on the challenge of “Meeting tough choices and uniting a societal coalition”.

The seminar, held in the Lithuanian Parliament, will be opened, among the others, by the Lithuanian Prime Minister Dr. Algirdas Butkevičius and the FEPS Next Left Chair, Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer. This inaugurational round will be followed by three international panels respectively devoted to: A new societal coalition in the name of equality and justice, Welfare societies enabling all to be part of the modern quality employment agenda, and Political answers restoring trust in state and European Union. After the open seminar, the FEPS Next Left Focus Group will gather also for a closed session – during which the draft of the members’ respective papers will be peer-reviewed, ahead of the final meeting at the end of the year and the subsequent publication of the 10^th volume of the FEPS Next Left Book Series.
