The Foundation for European Progressive Studies, in cooperation with Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) are organising a conference in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 8th 2016, focusing on the issue of ‘Peace, Security and Development in the Horn of Africa’. This conference forms part of a wider project that centres on the strategic significance of Sub-Saharan Africa and the various international actors that have established a diversified and increasingly important presence in the region.

The event will bring together a number of top-level policy makers and policy experts to discuss the results of the various research strands of the project, notably the current engagement of external actors in the African continent, the fundamentals of a comprehensive Africa policy for the EU and the US, as well as the overall developments in the sectors of peace, security and development in Kenya, Somalia and the wider region.
