Unequal Europe is a long-term research project which analyses regional inequalities in several EU countries. On 4 October, Björn Hacker, Professor of European Economic Policy at HTW Berlin, presented the Policy Study on the European overview Unequal Europe – Tackling Regional Disparities in the EU“.

Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, delivered a keynote speech. Maria Joao Rodrigues, FEPS President; Constanze Krehl, Member of the European Parliament; Cristina Rat, author of the Romanian study; Maija Mattila, author of the Finnish study and Philipp Fink, Director FES Nordic Office, also took the floor and participated in the debate.


 Agenda | Policy Study

The report has been produced as part of a European collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies at the European level. The project has previously produced a similar analysis in Germany, Finland, ItalyRomania, and Sweden. Analyses are underway in Estonia. The indicators have been selected in collaboration with researchers from the Institut für Landes- und Stadtentwicklungsforschung.
