The fourth module of the Go Beyond Academy focused on the objective of Zero deaths at work (FEPS in cooperation with Pietro Nenni), addressing occupational safety and health as a core priority for the European Union. This final module concluded the Academy’s journey, which started in Rome with field visits to Tuscany and Genoa and culminated in Brussels with a strong institutional and policy-oriented focus.

Building on insights gathered throughout the programme, the Brussels module connected local realities with EU-level policymaking and social dialogue. As a concrete outcome of the Academy, a policy study on EU safety at work, developed by Eures, will be published in the coming months.

Programme highlights

  • Visit of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)
  • Welcome meeting with institutional representatives from the PES Group, the Committee of the Regions, and the EESC
  • Institutional observation session through participation in the EESC TEN Section (Transport, Energy, Infrastructure)
  • Discussion on ongoing work and EU approaches to occupational safety, with contributions from EESC and ETUC representatives

FEPS HQ

  • Institutional greetings from FEPS leadership
  • Exchanges with Members of the European Parliament and EU agencies, including the European Labour Authority
  • European-level analysis and debate on workplace accidents and fatalities in the EU, combining policy perspectives from the European Commission with comparative data and analysis from Eures

The fourth module reinforced the Academy’s ambition to link training, field experience, and EU policymaking, contributing to a shared European effort to strengthen labour protection, prevent workplace accidents, and advance the goal of zero deaths at work across the European Union.
