FEPS, alongside its partners, is organising the EU-Africa Consultative Meeting taking place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 27-29 March 2026, to provide continuity to EU-Africa relations beyond major summits, following the AU‑EU Summit in Luanda and the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg.

This expert meeting is part of the FEPS’ EU‑Africa Progressive Network‘s 2026 program. Our network brings together academics, policymakers and political advisers from both continents and has engaged on themes ranging from green industrialisation and just transition to environmental and social standards, democracy, peace and human rights. Building on this work, the EU-Africa Consultative Meeting will deepen exchanges on aligning progressive agendas across Africa and Europe.

With uncertainty surrounding the future of the G20’s Think20 (T20) track under the current US administration, this forum creates an alternative space for African and European think tanks to engage on global governance reform. Participants will explore how an ambitious EU-Africa partnership can help shape a more inclusive multilateral order.
