Can an ideological appeal mobilize civic support in Baltic States? This seminar was already second within the cycle of round tables that are organized by FEPS with the support of BSF (Freedom and Solidarity Foundation) and in cooperation with LBAS (Free Trade Union Confederation).

It was build on the research completed by the Next Left Focus Group in 2011 and mirror its outcomes with political and societal reality of the Baltic countries.

The objectives of the seminar were:

  • Better contextual understanding of the progressive values, as interpreted for national and European politics by progressive movements In Baltic State (parties, trade unions, relevant NGOs
  • Reflection on feasibility of the policy proposals, that framed by those values should inspire new social contract and hence also new socio-economic paradigm for the 21st century.

The seminar gathered experts from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. FEPS was represented by Dr. Ania Skrzypek (Senior Research Fellow) and Ricard Torrell i Blanquer (Member of the FEPS Next Left Focus Group and Representative of Rafael Campalans Foundation).
