Jack THOMPSON
Jack Thompson is Lecturer in American Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Previously, he worked at think tanks in Switzerland and the Netherlands and taught at University College Dublin. His research focusses on the influence of political culture on US grand strategy, efforts to rebalance the transatlantic relationship, the history of US conservatism, and the radicalization of the US right. He is the author or co-editor of numerous books, articles, and policy reports, including Progressivism in America: Past, Present, and Future (Oxford University Press). His 2019 book, Great Power Rising: Theodore Roosevelt and the Politics of US Foreign Policy (Oxford University Press), won the 2020 Theodore Roosevelt Association Book Prize. He holds a PhD in history from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in international relations and international economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
