Annual Autumn Academy, 11-14 October 2021

Between 11 and 14 October 2021, FEPS organised the 3rd edition of the Annual Autumn Academy (AAA), its flagship training initiative. For four days, 75 carefully selected nominees analysed and debated democracy-related matters with top progressive thinkers, politicians, and academics.

“Defending and deepening democracy” was the thread for debates on hot issues such as the EU and the rule of law, democratising digital, and the Conference on the Future of Europe.

The AAA was the first occasion after the worst period of the pandemic to organise in-person debates, masterclasses, lectures, workshops, country case studies, and other activities at FEPS new headquarters.

Indeed, the AAA 2021 was also the first truly hybrid event organised by FEPS. While many participants travelled to Brussels, others joined the academy via an interactive and innovative online platform.

Once again, the AAA successfully connected politicians and stakeholders of local, regional, national, and EU levels.

About AAA 2021

ℹ️ This closed-door event involved – next to speakers and trainers – young politicians described as “the most promising” by the nominating FEPS Member Foundations. The debates took place accordingly to the Chatham House Rules.
