Implications for Social Democracy

Join us as we unveil the findings and policy recommendations of our upcoming  policy study ‘The transformation of the European mainstream right and its impact on (social) democracy’, together with co-authors, policymakers, and academics.

In the meantime, check out the Policy Brief which is already available!

The rise of algorithmic management, from platform economy to traditional sectors

In the near future, a significant portion of the population will be confronted with AI in the workplace. Understanding the developments in the platform economy (where platform workers are confronted with algorithmic management in its purest form) is essential for better grasping what is coming for more traditional sectors of the economy.

Join us in this webinar, where we will unveil the first findings of the Digital Research Programme, which aims to establish a worker-centric approach to algorithmic management.

#146 FEPS TALKS PODCAST

Social democracy and the working class with Jonas Pontusson

With Jonas Pontusson and László Andor

Social democracy and the working class with Jonas Pontusson

Professor Jonas Pontusson shares his views about the need for a “social democratic renewal”. There is no simple recipe for this, and one needs to research political economy as well as sociology for a proper assessment of the dynamics of progressive politics today.

The assumption that the working class automatically supports socialists was probably never true, but today the relevance of the social democratic programme is highlighted by the growing inequalities and the rise of the so-called precariat. We must stress better the economic agenda: improving redistribution and finding ways to strengthen economic democracy. In various countries, new forms of workers’ activism give hope for revitalising the labour movement and social democratic politics as well.
