The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), in cooperation with the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) are co-organising an event focusing on ‘Avoiding the sandstorm in the Sahel’, on the occasion of the presentation of the book ‘The Security-Migration-Development nexus revised: a perspective from the Sahel’. The event will be held on 20 February 2018 in Rome, Italy.

This event, which will bring together leading experts and policy-makers, forms the concluding part of a wider research project that aimed to reconceptualise the existing links between migration, development and security in the Sahel, a region where this nexus is particularly pronounced. The research that will be presented and discussed during the event also sought to recast EU and US policies in these domains and analyse the opportunities and challenges facing the transatlantic partners in the region.
