Clean technology value chains and the EU’s industrial strategy

Following the Draghi report and the Clean Industrial Deal, the European Union continues to move forward with new industrial policies, most recently with the Industrial Accelerator Act. Seeking to combine decarbonisation and competitiveness, the EU’s strategy involves reinforcing domestic production capacities, reducing external dependencies, and fostering innovation in clean technologies.

To discuss this topic from a concrete perspective, FEPS and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Just Climate worked on a study deep-diving into the heat pump value chain to assess the EU’s production capacities for key heat pump components and identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and policy options.

The public seminar will be an occasion to present the study’s findings and discuss them with policy-makers, industry representatives and civil society experts. It seeks to provide the foundation for informed policy discussions on the Industrial Accelerator Act and its implications for the European heat pump industry.
