FEPS, together with its partners, Olof Palme International Centre, the Foundation Max Van Der Stoel (FMS) and Fondation Jean-Jaurès, proposes to rethink the EU’s policy towards Africa to ensure the EU’s approach is based on mutual understanding, coherence, and fair cooperation, guided by progressive values. The EU-Africa Progressive Network connects experts from Europe and Africa, including academics, policymakers, political advisors and civil servants working on different topics, such as development, climate, global governance, and conflict prevention.

This project aims to establish a European-African Network to enhance dialogue on key European policies affecting Africa, addressing shared challenges such as just transition, social development, and more comprehensive approaches in crisis-affected contexts. This Network will ensure policy coherence and effectiveness while promoting collaboration for shared solutions. For this reason, we believe it is essential to bring together experts from diverse policy fields and geographical origins to ensure a range of perspectives and advance comprehensive approaches.

Following three online expert meetings that took place throughout 2025, the Network’s first in-person meeting took place on 14 November (Friday) in Amsterdam

This initiative is also in cooperation with CeSPI and ECDPM.

On the occasion of the first in-person meeting of the network, we launched the policy brief “Beyond rhetoric: Crafting a win-win EU-Africa partnership”.

For more details regarding the event, please contact Thainá Leite, Project Management Coordinator (thaina.leite@feps-europe.eu), and Beatriz Abellán, Policy Analyst on International Affairs (beatriz.abellan@feps-europe.eu).
