Following one of the main priorities of the Young European Socialists’ Summer Camp, FEPS hosted two training sessions for the participants under the main theme ‘Fighting far-right’.

Find below the details for each of the sessions:

Roll up your sleeves and come fight the far-right!

Despite recent progressive victories, the far-right continues to grow in several European countries. In this workshop, we looked into the reasons behind this growth and designed a plan on what each participant can do back home to fight the far-right.

Exposing gendered, racialised, and heteronormative stereotypes in far-right hate speech

We investigated how far-right movements and political parties use tropes and stereotypes that promote the supremacy of white, male, and heterosexual people over gendered, racialised, and sexualised others. We discussed how these stereotypes are used in hate speech against targeted minorities. We debated and developed plans to expose these stereotypes.

Speakers

Matthias Ecke, MEP of the S&D Group, will open both FEPS trainings.

Maria João Rodrigues, FEPS President, will participate in the opening of YES Summer Camp.

David Rinaldi, FEPS Director for Studies and Policies, will be a speaker in the following panels:

  • EU Elections: How do we secure a social Europe (organised by Young European Socialists)
  • Housing for all (organised by the PES CoR)

Speakers at the YES Summer Camp 2024 also included:

  • Zita Gurmai, PES Women leader
  • Sofie Amalie Stage, Young European Socialists Secretary General
