Upcoming Events
As we approach the start of a new EU mandate, it’s important to remember that the Social Pillar implementation must remain pivotal in the upcoming agenda.

Social and economic policies go hand in hand. These days, we also look at the need for progressive economic policies to tackle inflation and economic democracy to avoid the concentration of power and money in the hands of the few.

Speaking of power and systemic changes, find out about our proposals for a new kind of leadership: feminist leadership! (spoiler alert: it’s not just for women).

The European Pillar of Social Rights
Turning principles into practice
12 February – Austrian Permanent Representation, Brussels

The implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights 20 thematic principles must be safeguarded.

Given the start of the new legislature, the upcoming 2024 EPSR review, the redesign of EU economic governance, and in the context of the war in Ukraine, the ‘cost-of-living’ crisis and transitions, the Social Pillar, both a guiding compass and counter-crisis narrative, has never been more critical.

FEPS, Solidar, AK EUROPA, Social Platform and the European Policy Centre bring together policymakers, trade unions, civil society representatives, academics, and experts to engage in a critical discussion about the future of the EPSR.

Almost 50% of women leaders in Civil Society Organisations (CSO) exhibit signs of pre-burnout. These challenges are systemic, not personal!

On February 19, we will unveil the findings of the upcoming policy study ‘Women CSO leaders for systemic change – How to support Feminist Leadership’. This first-ever study of its kind takes stock of the last decade’s progress and identifies remaining barriers and opportunities to pave the way for transformative leadership and systemic change!

The co-authors of this study, prepared by FEPS, FES, Green European Foundation and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung EU, will showcase their research from nearly 150 comprehensive interviews with women CSO leaders.

In this new edition of the ‘Forum for Progressive Left Solutions’, we will talk with prominent progressive figures on concrete issues related to the place and experience of human beings in an age of fundamental changes and transformations, such as the impact of climate change adaptation and green policies, the impact of the digital transformation on society, social interaction, personal physical and mental health, and many more.

The situation of women in the workplace is one of the areas where we have the most opportunities to continue progressing. Spain is one of the countries that, in recent years, has made the most progress in the fight against gender inequalities in the world of work.

In this conference, we will look at socialist feminist policies on the labour market, joined by renowned speakers, including Ana Redondo, Spanish Minister of Equality of the Government.

Kick-started by a keynote from German economist Isabella Weber, the discussion of this new edition of the Progressive Economics Network walked through different approaches to manage inflation, outside of traditional monetary policy tools.

Discussants from Spain, France and Slovenia presented their countries’ experiences of anti-inflationary measures.

The current economic system has concentrated power in the hands of the few and created record inequality. A new paradigm must be created.

FEPS, in partnership with Open Society Foundations, has launched an initiative on Economic Democracy to explore and spread best practices and strategies to build people’s power in the economic domain. This project studies experiences of democratic transformation in economic, employment and public administration domains to build up a “theory of change” and identify policy strategies that put economics at the service of society.
