Developing a clean industry gender agenda in times of deregulation and policy backlash

Photo album of the ‘Developing a clean industry gender agenda in times of deregulation and policy backlash‘ event in Brussels.

The renewed focus on industrial policy in the EU and the development of new policies to support industrial decarbonisation and clean technologies raises a number of questions for gender equality. For example, the number of jobs in the renewable energy sector has been growing and is projected to continue growing in the future, requiring both technical and non-technical skills. However, women tend to be under-represented in this sector, especially in technical and managerial positions.

The objective of the expert seminar was to discuss how to promote the integration of women in growing sectors related to the green economy in light of the current EU policy dynamics and explore potential avenues for future research and action. The seminar brought together civil society and policy-making experts working on gender and/on industrial policy for a rich and inclusive discussion.
