The Training Manual is part of the toolbox of the FEPS European Progressive Training Lab. It was written in the framework of the Skill Boosters designed and delivered in the framework of the PES Congress in Amsterdam in October 2025, hence the methodology described below has already been successfully applied.

Skill boosters are short, focused training sessions designed to equip European progressive actors with practical skills and strategic insights to strengthen progressive ideas and political action across Europe.

This manual explains the concept and context of this training format, how to designed a successful skill booster and illustrates three different examples:

  • Confronting a populist in the wild
  • Youth engagement, but make it iconic
  • Slogan writing
