The Next Left Research Programme is a FEPS-led project established in 2009 in cooperation with the Karl Renner Institute.

It aims to provide progressive stakeholders with relevant analyses regarding the state and future of social democracy in Europe and proposes evidence-based scenarios for identifying alternative trajectories they could choose to pursue in the future

It is about developing original, high-quality, and academically peer-reviewed content and creating spaces for informed debates predominantly between the political world and academia.

Inside FEPS, it became a hub for several offspring initiatives – resulting in several conferences, round tables on the national level, providing space for political consultancy, and further publications (in the form of pamphlets and books).
