Following the policy launch in Brussels, Monday, 22. April 2024 marked the official launch day of the policy study ‘The transformation of the European mainstream right and its impact on (social) democracy‘ in Austria, one of the analysed case study countries. The Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), the Karl-Renner-Institut, and Fondation Jean-Jaurès presented the key findings and continued the discussion on the evolving political landscape around the centre-right in Europe

During expert roundtables, policymakers and academics explored the overlapping ideologies and pivotal differences of mainstream and centre-right parties, with a spotlight on national dynamics, notably in Austria.

RI - Book Launch & Expert Roundtables

These discussions were followed by insightful analysis of electoral support and rejection across Western Europe. By scrutinising the gap between election outcomes and latent voter support, our experts shed light on strategic opportunities and challenges for social democratic parties

Navigating the interplay between political ideologies and electoral dynamics is complex. Therefore, the main focus laid on the question of how especially the social democratic parties can better exploit their respective potential.
