Webinar, Tuesday, 16 March, 16:00 – 17:30 (CET)

In the context of the 65th session of the UN Commission of the Status of Women, FEPS joined forces with the PES Women, Jean-Jaurès Foundation and FPI – Fair Pay Innovation Lab in order to host our 2nd Fair Pay Political Roundtable.

The Fair Pay Political Roundtable addressed how to deal with legislations enshrining fair pay principles. Equal pay for equal work and work of equal value has been high on the international agenda and there is a variety of countries who are rapidly progressing in fair pay legislation. However, no country can report a wage gap of zero and the COVID-19 has worsened the economic situation of women.

We wanted to assess how individuals use available laws to ensure fair pay for themselves, but also how governments implement collective solutions so that the burden is no longer placed on the individual’s shoulders.

Experts from policy-making, NGOs, and academia exchanged on legislative approaches across the world and evaluated these approaches in how far they are practically supporting citizens in overcoming the gender wage gap.
