Topic: Economic and Monetary Union Reform

Date: 6th December at 3pm

Venue: FEPS, 40 rue Montoyer 1000 Brussels 4th Floor

Speakers:

Fabien Dell: Member of the cabinet of Pierre Moscovici, Commissioner in charge of Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs

László Andor:  Senior Non-Resident Fellow at FEPS and former European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion

Gustav Horn: Research Director of the Macroeconomic Policy Institute (IMK) of the Hans Böckler Stiftung in Germany, non-resident Research Fellow at DG ECFIN EU Commission

Jakob Weizsäcker: S&D MEP, Chair of the Next Left Economic Circle

Context:

In the same day of the presentation of the Commission’s package on EMU reform, the Next Left Economic Circle is delighted that Fabien Dell from Commissioner Moscovici’s Cabinet has agreed to present the Commission’s proposal.

Background:

The weaknesses of euro area architecture that were exposed by the crisis have not yet been comprehensively addressed, although select issues have been dealt with. With Macron and despite political uncertainty in Germany, there is a critically important window of opportunity to put the euro area architecture on a more robust footing. As progressives, we will not only need to follow but shape this debate.
