FEPS in partnership with the Karl-Renner-Institut, launched the new cycle of the Next Left project. This marks the beginning of a renewed chapter with the establishment of a newly formed expert group — A Taskforce — comprising esteemed academics and policy thinkers: Patrick Diamond, Kaisa Emilia Vatanen, Eunice Goes, and Carlo D’Ippoliti. The group operates under the chairmanship of MEP Andreas Schieder, Chair of the Next Left initiative.

The inaugural session was hosted by Paul Magnette (PS, President) in Brussels. It provided a critical forum to assess the urgent challenges confronting social democracy today and to formulate ambitious, future-oriented strategies grounded in both intellectual rigor and political relevance.

At this pivotal historical juncture, the Taskforce is united by a clear and ambitious objective: to synthesise the collective insights of its members into a concise, impactful, and thought-provoking publication. This forthcoming pamphlet will aim to provoke meaningful debate and inspire progressive policymaking across Europe.

For further information on the project, please get in touch with Dr Ania Skrzypek, FEPS Director for Research and Training, or Ms Céline Guedes, FEPS Partnership and Project Coordinator.
